~ Company Background ~

Begley Lumber began as a family owned sawmill in the southeastern Kentucky town of Hyden. From its inception in 1971, Begley Lumber has experienced continual planned growth and today ranks as one of the largest hardwood producers in North America.

Our mill locations in Hyden and London, Kentucky are in the central area of the Appalachian Mountain region of the eastern United States. This area is known worldwide for its quality hardwoods. We procure raw material from an approximate one hundred mile radius in this central Appalachian region to insure consistent texture and color of bandsawn lumber produced from such species as Red Oak, White Oak, Poplar, Basswood, Cherry, Walnut, Ash, Hickory, Hard Maple and Soft Maple. To service our domestic and export markets, annual sawmill production has grown to over 60 million board foot with 750 thousand board foot kiln capacity.

Our procurement staff is experienced in the pursuit of raw materials from independent producers as well as contractors on company managed lands and company log concentration yards. In addition, our production staff is well trained in the day to day operation of the latest state-of-the-art band mills and support equipment necessary to produce lumber in the correct thickness to be graded and properly packaged for our customers in either green, air dried or kiln dried. Our friendly sales staff is knowledgeable concerning our product, and prepared to answer questions as well as offer assistance to our customers in their lumber needs.
